what is septorhinoplasty and rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty (nose job) is the name for an operation that re-shapes the nose. If the tip of the nose is miss-shaped or weak this can cause blockage. Functional rhinoplasty corrects the tip to improve breathing. Aesthetic or cosmetic rhinoplasty improves the appearance of the nose.

In some cases nasal twists on the outside are associated with a twisted nasal septum on the inside of the nose that can cause blockage. It is possible to correct both these conditions with one operation. The procedure is called septorhinoplasty.

you and your operation

Septorhinoplasty and rhinoplasty is usually carried
out with the patient asleep. The surgery performed depends on the patient’s wishes, their individual shape and breathing problems and what is possible for their nose.

Surgery may be carried out as a day case or one night stay and is rarely painful.

The nose feels like a heavy cold for about 2 weeks and there may be bruising under the eyes for this time. We advise 2 weeks off work for most cases.
